A no-nonsense directory of local service businesses, ranked by real data.
What Is ProSource?
ProSource is a curated directory of local home service professionals across hundreds of U.S. cities. We cover categories like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, pool building, landscaping, and more.
Our goal is simple: when you need to hire someone, you should be able to quickly find the most trusted businesses in your area — without wading through ads or pay-to-play listings. Every ranking on ProSource is driven entirely by data.
How Rankings Work
Each business is assigned a score based on its star rating and total review volume across Google and Yelp. The formula rewards businesses that have both strong ratings and a meaningful number of reviews — a business with 4.9 stars and 3 reviews ranks below one with 4.7 stars and 300 reviews.
Scoring formula
combined_rating = (google_rating × google_count + yelp_rating × yelp_count)
÷ (google_count + yelp_count)
score = combined_rating × log₁₀(total_reviews + 10)
Yelp data is incorporated proportionally — if a business has 200 Google reviews and 10 Yelp reviews, Yelp influences the score far less than Google. Both platforms are weighted by evidence volume, not given equal weight.
Data Sources
Business information — names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, ratings, and reviews — is compiled from publicly available listings on Google Maps and Yelp. We do not collect or store any data that isn't already publicly visible.

- ★ Photos — sourced from business Google listings and stored on our own CDN after verification.
- ★ Business details — name, phone, website, address, and category as reported on Google Maps.
How Often Is Data Updated?
Business records are refreshed approximately every 90 days. Rankings are recomputed each time new data is collected, so a business that improves its reviews will move up over time.
If you notice a business with outdated information — a closed location, wrong phone number, or stale rating — please let us know and we'll prioritize a refresh.
Sponsored Listings
Some listing pages include a sponsored slot at the top, clearly labeled "Sponsored". Sponsored businesses pay to appear in that position — they are not ranked by our algorithm and do not influence the organic results below them.
We only accept sponsorships from businesses that are already present in our database and meet a minimum quality bar (at least 3 reviews). A sponsored listing is always a real, operating business in the relevant city and service category.
